SNOW SKIING

The secret is out! The Lake Chelan Valley, in the center of North Central Washington, has
long been known for its winter recreation opportunities, but until now, few people have heard about it. Whether you like downhill skiing without the crowds, or cross country skiing through the beautifully valley scenery, we have something for skiers of every skill level.

SNOWSHOEING

Lake Chelan has many great places to take your snowshoes. The Echo Ridge Nordic Trail system includes trails designated for snowshoes, and the Stehekin Valley's pristine location is great for snowshoeing as well.

Echo Ridge Nordic Club

Stehekin offers endless miles of deep snow-covered forest to explore. It’s not uncommon to stand on 8-10 feet of snow. Because of the secluded nature of the Stehekin Valley, it makes the perfect spot for a snowshoe adventure. The snow really starts to get deep in December, and snow can be found up valley as late May and even June.

Echo Ridge Experiences "Sweet Snow"
Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area seems to be in the right place. Blessed with cold, dry powder, Echo Ridge continues to provide a great cross-country skiing experience.

This professionally designed ski area offers 40 kilometers of trails that follow the contours of the terrain creating interesting and exciting skiing for all ability levels. The Forest Service completed the construction of several miles of new trails this summer, including some connector trails to make additional loop opportunities within the existing trails. The new trails are generally for classic cross-country skiing and located north of the High Five Junction beyond the Little Critter Trail.

The Echo Ridge Nordic Area is located on the Chelan Ranger District (about a 30-minute drive from the town of Chelan). Echo Ridge accommodates both classic and skate skiers. Skiers 18 and over pay a fee of $10 per day and skiers 18 and under ski free. Season passes are available for $70 at the Chelan Ranger District.

Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area is located between the towns of Chelan and Manson, high in the hills above Lake Chelan. The scenic ridge-top location provides 40k of rolling groomed cross-country ski trails, and breath taking views of Lake Chelan's fjord like valley and the Stewart Range. Echo Ridge has a variety of trails, offering choices for all skill levels from beginners to advanced skiers. Backcountry skiers and skate skiers can enjoy a flat packed loop that offers a remote, backcountry like skiing experience. There is even a groomed trail that skiers are welcome to take their four-legged friends on, a rarity in the world of groomed cross-country ski areas.

For the 2008-09 ski season the Lake Chelan Nordic Club purchased and erected a yurt at the Echo Ridge Nordic Ski Area where it will be used as a warming hut for cross country skiers, snowshoers, and other winter sports enthusiasts. The yurt is located near the trailhead at the upper parking lot where it can be accessed from both the trails and the parking lot.

A nonprofit formed 40 years ago to provide affordable skiing for the Chelan Valley Skiers and winter visitors. Our totally volunteer group relies on strong community support for it's continued operation. Echo Valley is also the gateway to cross-country at Echo Ridge and snowmobiling at the Snowpark.

Let's Go Snow Tubing!
Echo Valley's Family Ski Area also provide runs for snow tubing. If you've inner-tubed on snow before, you know just how much fun it is. Echo Valley's snow tubing area is great for all ages and family members. We supply the special tubes. Please do not bring your own.
